Buongiorno cari amici del forum...!!!
Voglio iniziare questa settimana presentandovi la mia piccola famiglia di Sheaffer's Imperial, per condividere con voi in questo inizio questo Sheaffer's Sterling Silver dell'inizio degli anni '70, nato come risposta del marchio, al Parker 75 “Cisele” Sterling lanciato sul mercato alcuni mesi prima...
Questa penna è arrivata alle mie mani quasi impeccabile, con solo tre problemi che ho dovuto risolvere, sostituire la sacca di inchiostro con una sacca di silicone, mettere un nuovo o'ring nel sistema pneumatico e risolvere una perdita di inchiostro che esisteva nell'impugnatura , tra la penna intarsiata e il materiale plastico...
Purtroppo, ciò che hanno questi pennini "inlaid long" di bellezza intarsiati, lo hanno anche come una maledizione, poiché sono fusi nello stesso stampo in cui viene iniettato il materiale, la loro estrazione per essere sostituita è impossibile senza distruggere l'impugnatura. Per risolvere il problema ho utilizzato un anaerobico che non attaccasse la plastica (Loctite 243) che ho fatto penetrare a vuoto tra il pennino e la plastica dell'impugnatura. È comune che queste perdite si verifichino nel tempo in questi pennini semi-flessibili, a causa del grande sforzo fatto durante la flessione... Il resto è stato solo lucidare un po' il meraviglioso argento e lasciarlo prendere vita.
Se me lo chiedi, e vorrei che la mia opinione fosse condivisa o confutata, penso che Sheaffer abbia superato di gran lunga, sia nella tecnologia che nel design, il modello Parker...
A cominciare dal maestoso pennino lungo, che dopo varie lavorazioni di rullatura, taglio, foratura, incisione e piegatura, finisce per fondersi nello stampo dove viene iniettata la resina plastica,
per rimanervi per tutta la vita, e che come si vede nella video di prova, scivola facilmente su carta assorbente e rustica...
Continuando con il sistema di caricamento pneumatico Touch Down, che permette ad un sacco di lattice di continuare a lavorare per più di 30 anni...
E per finire con quel meraviglioso disegno di incisione a forma di diamante, che esce dalla rigidità dell'incisione ortogonale di Parker, conferendo alla penna un design più stilizzato e colorato...
Purtroppo la prossima Sterling di Sheaffer passerà al "converter system", riducendo la lunghezza della clip e della penna, e perdendo quel bel taglio del sistema Touch Down, che perderà la sua sontuosità...
Credo senza timore di sbagliare, che questo modello di Sheaffer possa essere considerato come iconico del brand...!!!

Unfortunately, what these inlaid long nibs have of beauty, they also have it as a curse, because they are cast in the same mold where the material is injected, and their extraction to be replaced is impossible without destroying the grip. To solve the problem, I used an anaerobic that did not attack the plastic (Loctite 243) that I made penetrate by vacuum between the nib and the plastic of the grip. It is common that these losses to exist over time, in these semi-flexible nibs, due to the great effort made when flexing... The rest was just polishing the wonderful silver a little and letting it come to life.
If you ask me, and I would like my opinion to be shared or refuted, I think Sheaffer far surpassed, both in technology and in design, the Parker model...
Starting with the majestic long nib, which after several processes of rolling, cutting, drilling, engraving and bending, ends up being fused in the mold where the plastic resin is injected, to remain there for life, and that as can be seen in the test video, it glides easily on absorbent, rustic paper...
Continuing with the Touch Down pneumatic loading system, which allows a latex sack to continue working for more than 30 years...
And ending with that wonderful diamond-shaped engraving design, which comes out of the rigidity of Parker's orthogonal engraving, giving the pen a more stylized and colorful design...
Unfortunately, the next Sheaffer's Sterling will switch to converter system filling, reducing the length of the clip and the fountain pen, and losing that nice cut of the Touch Down system, which will lose its sumptuousness...
I believe without fear of being wrong, that this Sheaffer's model can be considered as iconic of the brand...!!!
